THE AI GAP IS REAL BUT THE PREDICTIONS ARE BOLLOCKS
So I asked for the truth. What's actually happening out there in the real world with AI right now. Not what the suits think might happen next year. Not their fancy forecasts. Just the meat. The actual usage.
And what do I get back? A load of predictions. Fucking predictions. Deloitte's got their "TMT Predictions 2026." Jakob Nielsen's got "18 Predictions." cio.com's got "10 AI predictions." Even the World Economic Forum is talking about contradictions to "watch." Watch? We're not at the theatre, mates. We're in the fucking trenches.
It's mental. Everyone's still guessing. Still trying to peek over the hedge to see what the neighbour's doing instead of just mowing their own lawn. Know what I mean?
But here's the thing. Even in all this wanking about the future, there's a couple of truths hiding in there. Sharp little needles in a haystack of consultant bullshit.
First off, Deloitte says the "AI gap narrows but persists." That's proper real, that is. Some of you lot have got it sorted. You're using the tech, you're getting value, you're moving. And most of you? You're still stuck in meetings talking about strategy documents that nobody reads. The gap's there. It's always been there. The greats separate themselves from the muppets not by talking about what they're going to do, but by doing it. Simple as.
Then McKinsey talks about "Agents, innovation, and transformation." Now we're getting somewhere. Agents. That's the word. Not chatbots. Not fancy text generators that write shite emails for you. Agents. Things that actually do the work. That's the shift. That's the difference between playing with toys and running a business. If your AI isn't taking action, if it's just talking, it's decoration. And decoration doesn't pay the bills.
The rest of it? The paradoxes? The contradictions? That's just noise. That's people trying to sound clever because they're scared to admit they don't know what's happening either. The World Economic Forum talking about things not being "straightforward." Course it's not straightforward. Nothing worth doing is straightforward. If it was easy, everyone would be doing it and it wouldn't be worth a damn.
Here's the reality check. 2026 isn't about what's coming. It's about what's already here and who's actually using it. The tech works. It's been working. The question isn't "will AI change everything?" The question is "are you clever enough to wield it without cutting your own hand off?"
Most of you aren't. Most of you are waiting for permission. Waiting for the perfect moment. Waiting for the predictions to come true so you can say you knew it all along. That's cowardice. That's performing instead of being.
The real ones? They're not reading prediction reports. They're building agents. They're automating the boring shite so they can focus on the stuff that actually requires a human brain. They're closing the gap. They're not watching contradictions. They're solving problems.
So here's my prediction. And it's not a guess. It's a fact. The people who stop reading about what AI might do and start making it do something useful? They're going to eat your lunch. They're going to take your market. They're going to leave you behind wondering what happened.
Stop watching. Start doing. The future's not something you wait for. It's something you build. And if you're still reading reports about 2026 while we're living in it, you're already late.
Get sorted. Or get out of the way.
