AI IN 2026: CORPORATE BOLLOCKS VS REAL BLOOD AND GUTS
So I've been looking at the state of AI in 2026. Proper had a dig through the news, the reports, the whole lot. And you know what it smells like? It smells like a boardroom where everyone's terrified of being the first to say the emperor's naked.
Microsoft's got their "7 trends to watch." Seven? Have a laugh. IBM's talking about what's going to "shape" tech. Deloitte's got their trends too. It's all the same shite, innit? Polished. Sanitized. Safe. They're writing these reports so they don't get sued when the whole thing goes pear-shaped. They're not telling you what's happening; they're telling you what they want you to think is happening. Know what I mean? It's performance. And I hate performance.
But then you look at Al Jazeera. Experts sounding the alarm. Finally. Someone's actually got the bottle to say it. The risks are real. The alarms aren't just noise; they're fucking sirens. People are worried about what this stuff is doing to us, to the way we think, to the way we live. And the suits want to pretend it's all just "efficiency gains" and "workflow optimization." Bollocks. It's deeper than that. It's existential. If you're not scared, you're not paying attention. Simple as.
Then there's the medical stuff. Korea. Using AI to bridge borders for patients. Now that? That's proper. That's real. Not some abstract concept about "generative workflows." It's helping people get well. It's connecting doctors to patients who need them. That's where the tech earns its keep. When it's not trying to replace you, but when it's actually lifting you up. When it's serving the human, not the shareholder. That's biblical, that is.
Here's the thing though. The tech doesn't matter. Not really. It's just a tool. A hammer doesn't care if you're building a house or smashing a window. It's about the person holding it. And right now, too many people holding the hammer are wearing suits and looking at spreadsheets instead of looking at people. They've lost the plot. They think AI is the main character. It's not. We are. You are. I am.
If you're building this stuff and you're not thinking about the risk, you're irresponsible. If you're using this stuff and you're not thinking about the risk, you're naive. And if you're selling this stuff as some kind of magic bullet without mentioning the side effects? You're a fraud. And I don't rate frauds. I never have.
2026 is supposed to be the year it all comes together. The integration. The seamless stuff. But seamless for who? For the corporation collecting the data? Or for the person just trying to get through the day without being manipulated by an algorithm? That's the question nobody wants to answer in those Deloitte reports. They're too busy counting their bonuses.
I want to see tech that bleeds a bit. Tech that admits it's dangerous. Tech that respects the user enough to say, "Look, this is powerful, don't fuck it up." The medical stuff gets it. They know lives are on the line. The corporate trend reports? They think only profits are on the line. There's a difference. A massive fucking difference.
So here's my take. Take the trends, bin the waffle. Keep the utility. Lose the hype. If it helps you live better, keep it. If it just helps a CEO buy a bigger yacht, burn it. We need less innovation for the sake of innovation and more honesty about what this actually does to us.
Be real. That's the only trend that matters. The rest is just noise. And I'm done listening to noise.
