AI March 2026: The Real, The Rubbish, and The Bollocks
Right. Sit down. Put the drink down. Listen.
It's March 2026 and the AI circus is in town again. Always is, isn't it? Just louder. Flashier. More desperate.
You've got Jensen Huang up on stage at GTC. Proper showman, him. Lights, camera, action. 'Age of AI' he calls it. And look, I respect the man. NVIDIA holds the keys to the kingdom. Without those chips, this whole thing grinds to a halt. Biblical hardware. But the presentation? It's a performance. You know what I mean? It's theatre. They want you to feel small so you buy the ticket. Don't fall for it. The tech is real. The hype is usually bollocks.
Then you've got the wearables. iFLYTEK pushing AI glasses at MWC. 'AI for Use, AI for Trust.' Trust. That's a funny word to throw around when you're strapping cameras to people's faces. Looks mental to me. Walking about recording everything. Are we solving problems or just making everyone paranoid? Some of it's sound, sure. Hands-free is proper useful. But most of it? It's solution looking for a problem. Rubbish.
Here's the interesting bit though. Prediction markets. Prospect Markets working with ASAPI.AI. Now we're talking. Putting money where your mouth is. Betting on what actually happens next. That's honesty. That's real. No press releases, no fluffy mission statements. Just cold hard cash saying 'this is what I think is gonna go down.' I like that. It cuts through the noise. Simple as.
And over in India, Tech Data and NetApp opening a test drive centre. Enterprise stuff. Boring name, vital work. This is where the rubber meets the road. Not in the keynotes. In the trenches. Partners building actual use cases. Getting their hands dirty. That's the stuff that matters. The unglamorous grind. The work.
Then you've got the New York Times asking where China's AI doomers are. Quiet, aren't they? Either everyone's too busy building to complain, or the silence is louder than the noise. Could be dangerous. Could be brilliant. Hard to say. But when the critics go quiet, you know things are shifting. Proper mental.
Here's the thing. The world's full of frauds. People pretending this tech is gonna save us all. People pretending it's the devil incarnate. Both sides are talking out of their arse. It's a tool. That's it. It's a hammer. You can build a house or you can smash a window. Depends on who's holding it.
Don't get distracted by the shiny objects. The glasses, the stages, the headlines. Look at what's actually being used. Look at who's doing the work. The India centre. The prediction markets. The chips themselves. That's the signal. Everything else is noise.
Be real. If it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't. No need for a five-year plan. No need for a mission statement. Just build the thing. Test the thing. Use the thing.
If you're pretending, you're already dead. If you're building, you're alive. Choose.
That's it.
